Professional Thoroughbred Breaking & Pre-training

At Warrego Stud, we are proud to offer the very best in thoroughbred breaking and pre-training. Owner and head trainer, Robert Goodwin, has 20 years experience starting and training horses in various disciplines. His calm but straightforward approach to training and attention to detail is proven to produce well educated and well-developed horses ready to start their racing careers.

Our peaceful 65 acre property, located near Woodford, QLD, with plenty of land to ride on a 1200m sand track to use and individual paddock for every horse is the perfect starting point for future winners.
Breaking In
​
Breaking in is usually completed over 4 to 6 weeks where the horses receive training both on the ground and in the saddle to start their careers. They are introduced to being ridden in a round yard first next to a lead horse to build their confidence before being taken out to get used to being ridden on the track, alone and in a group. The horses gain experience being saddled up in crossties and receive basic barrier training.

Pre-Training
​
We take horses for pre-training at any level of fitness. Horses can be in pre-training for as long as needed or until the desired fitness is reached.

$55 per horse per day

Full care and feed included in prices for all horses in training with us.
